While I hardly ever recommend starting in the middle of a series, I suppose if you've been mighty curious about these books, this could possibly be a decent place to jump on board, it being book five notwithstanding. Foxglove Summer is the fifth book in the Rivers of London series. Its original publication date was November 13, 2014.

The protagonist Peter Grant is left shaken by the developments at the end of the previous book, the sudden betrayal and defection by a highly valued colleague to whom Grant also had a strong emotional tie. Moon Over Soho and Foxglove Summer are probably my favourites. I enjoyed Foxglove Summer for familiar surroundings as I grew up in the countryside and loved Moon Over Soho because of the way Kobna Holdbrook.
