There are 0 BMW Alpina B10. Alpina was swift off the mark when it came to fettling the E39, and it wasn't long after the car's launch that the first B10 model became available. The V8 was the first of the Alpina B10s to appear in March 1997, and it was naturally enough based on the 540i.
In fact, Alpina got there first: the E39 540i-based B10 V8 appeared in 1997, and during three iterations (defined by engine developments and the facelift imposed by BMW) production totalled 1497 - including 291 Touring versions, a bodystyle that was denied that generation of M5. It was around 17000 D-mark cheaper than the E39 M5. For 1999, Alpina updated the B10 V8 with a improved engine which made it slightly more powerful and more frugal.
In September 2000, when BMW introduced a face-lifted E39 5-series, the B10 V8 received the same (mostly cosmetic) changes. Product Overview Alpina B10 (chassis code E39) is a high-performance executive sedan in production from 1998 to 2003. It was available with a range of inline-6 and V8 engines that displaced 3.2 to 4.8 liters. At launch, the E39 B10 came with modified BMW M52 I6 and M62 V8 engines, essentially basing the car on BMW's 530i and 540i respectively.
