The design proposal by Coop Himmelb (l)au consists of a large transparent hall with a sculptural roof and a double cone, informed by the relation to the existing company headquarters building. BMW Welt is composed of five thematic blocks: Hall, Premiere, Forum, Gastronomy and Double Cone. Completed in 2007 in Munich, Germany.

Conception The realization of the technical building facilities within the scope of the architecture led to a planning model with five thematic. The BMW Welt is a brand experience and car delivery center as well as an event location situated next to the headquarter and the BMW museum. Coop Himmelb (l)au designed a hall with a length of 180 meters, which completes the western corner of the large area.

The structural design of BMW Welt represents a special challenge when determining how to conduct supply lines. Because of the vast support-free space, which is borne by only 11 columns plus the elevator shafts, the supply cross. In a multi-stage selection procedure, the design by COOP HIMMELB (L)AU came out winning in July 2001.
