The Raleigh Burner is a BMX bicycle first launched in early 1982 by the Raleigh Bicycle Company. The name continued to 1988 and was brought back in the early 2000s, although it has been nowhere near as successful saleswise as the 1980s item. The team came 5th in the medal count & Schofield won the Superclass 20 inch title, his bike was the Raleigh Team Aero Pro Burner.

2004 saw the relaunch of the iconic Raleigh Chopper after 30 years since its original launch in 1970. In 2012 Raleigh was purchased by Netherlands. Raleigh in BMX terms is best known for the Burner, launched in 1982, Raleigh sold half a million of them in the first 2 years alone and made BMX truly accessible to the masses.

Raleigh's BURNER BMX range was first launched in 1982, starting out with 5 models, the bikes were an instant success amongst the kids, the blockbuster film ET featured BMX heavily in its storyline, making a BMX the top of that years Christmas list. Raleigh debuted their Burner BMX bike in 1982 and followed on with numerous models, including the Super Tuff Burner, which featured the five-spoke plastic 'Mag' wheels that are still seen on BMX bikes today.

It had a steel frame & forks, steel rims & cranks & I think. Raleigh sure made enough use of the burner range from what I've now seen. From the looks of it the ultra was a fairly expensive burner for the time.
