Does The Bmw R12 Have A Fuel Gauge

I have the new 2024 BMW R12 cruiser on order (in black, with spoke wheels and comfort package, almost like on the picture). Can't wait to get it! But Is it true the little screen does not show a fuel gauge? How do you know how much gas you have left then? 😳. Actual fuel gauges are much more complex and don't work well in tank with complex shapes or fuel sloshing around a lot.

I think since the R1200 series have simply shaped plastic tanks under the body plastics, getting a "functional" fuel gauge in there is a bit easier. Ok, so we know there's no gas gauge per se. Not an issue for us old timers.

But am I the only one who thinks that showing the mileage you have gone after you went on reserve is odd? I don't care how far I've come, I wanna know how far I can go. I would expect to be shown fuel/distance remaining. As per the owners manual (US), 3.7gal main, and 3.7qt reserve.

That's aproximately 4 main. BMW, in their infinite wisdom, decided not to put a fuel gauge on the bike, so I had a bit of fun (not) trying to work out the range of the bike, using the trip counter. 2024 BMW R 12 Review: Based on the outgoing R nineT, the new R 12 is a cruiser that upstages its Big Boxer sibling.

So, all in all, I would still rather have a properly functioning fuel gauge. The countdown feature on top of the low-fuel warning light is rather superfluous, assuming that the amber light coming on is an accurate indicator of how much fuel is remaining in the tank. It also has all the modern technology and high-end components you'd expect from the clever Germans - except a fuel gauge.

All these things come at a cost though. The starting price for the R12 nineT is $26,465 (AUS) or $16,295 (USD). Then if you want all the goodies on the Option 719 which I was riding, then you are looking at $33k.

2024 BMW R12 Comfort & Economy BMW's official specs put the R12's seat height at 754mm, making it one of the lowest-slung offerings in the company's line up. Even the shortest-legged riders should have no problem getting their feet flat on the floor. It sits behind a fuel tank that's specific to the R12, smaller than the R12 nineT's at 14 litres and made of steel where the roadster.

I understand the complaints about no fuel gauge, but I went through that whole thing with a former 2008 R1200R and the faulty fuel strips.

I can get by without a gauge. My question is to current owners of the R12 and if you experiences any faulty tech issues with the bike?
