I think BMW vastly overestimated the demand for the R18. I've seen similar deals at the local dealer shop. Those bikes sit and sit.

Even with discounts and 0% financing they aren't selling. Also, I don't think I've seen one on the road yet, which is sad. It's a gorgeous machine in my opinion, but it got lukewarm reviews and to me it's a niche bike.

The target buyer is probably a current BMW. I love my R18 B. I recently sold my 2008 R1200 GS Adventure with 96k+ miles, in order to get into either a HD Street Glide or Road Glide; all my buddies went out and bought new HD bikes with sound systems, navigation, wind protection and overall comfort.
