Fuel Gauge Bmw R12

I have the new 2024 BMW R12 cruiser on order (in black, with spoke wheels and comfort package, almost like on the picture). Can't wait to get it! But Is it true the little screen does not show a fuel gauge? How do you know how much gas you have left then? 😳. Actual fuel gauges are much more complex and don't work well in tank with complex shapes or fuel sloshing around a lot.

I think since the R1200 series have simply shaped plastic tanks under the body plastics, getting a "functional" fuel gauge in there is a bit easier. Still they were never the best on those. Very murky and grey but dry! BMW, in their infinite wisdom, decided not to put a fuel gauge on the bike, so I had a bit of fun (not) trying to work out the range of the bike, using the trip counter.

Thanks for the quick reply Glenn, I may end up paying a mechanic to fix the gauge for me. BMW claim 20 litres 'useable tank volume' but I consistently put 23 litres in the tank, while the amber symbol displays & the trip shows 30-40 miles to go. I keep a diary of fuel consumption and when in Norway, on the first 1200GS we were two up, with a full complement of luggage and the bike was ridden fairly hard.

I understand the complaints about no fuel gauge, but I went through that whole thing with a former 2008 R1200R and the faulty fuel strips. I can get by without a gauge. My question is to current owners of the R12 and if you experiences any faulty tech issues with the bike?

Massive selection from top brands on eBay.com. I think what you're asking is if a post 02/13 1200R can be equipped with a new fuel sensor to get the gas gauge of the pre 02/13 model. Besides the fuel sensor, BMW has also disabled or removed the software to monitor and display it.

I just put some HID's in my 2007 r1200rt. This involves taking boith sides of the top tupper ware off. When I put it back together, it shows Im out of fuel.
