Broken Shower Valve 05-05-2024 03:10 PM Good Morning fellow hosts, I have a question regarding an issue that occured over the weekend. A guest took a shower and the shower valve broke. The valve was 10-15 years old.
It was a posi-temp handle. So on/off is controlled by moving the handle in/out temp is controlled left/right. The shower is broken at my airbnb and can't be fixed during my stay, what should I do? So I checked in yesterday and found that the shower is broken.
The host came in this morning and did his best to fix it's still broken. It's a bathtub/shower combo and 90% of the water goes through the bathtub spout and 10% comes out of the shower head. If you, someone you invite, or a pet are responsible for damage during a home stay, service, or experience, let your host know right away.
In my prior history of renting, I've just never ripped out of the wall towel racks, toilet paper holders, hand towel holders or vomited on shower curtains. Do an internet search on "exploding shower door" and you'll see that the spontaneous, deafening explosion of previously intact, previously uncracked shower glass is totally a thing. That said, I would still try to see if Aircover will cover the cost of repair/replacement.
You never know. And the guest can also submit a claim to Airbnb to cover their medical bills. Whether you choose to offer.

Hello to all. We are fairly new to hosting and all of our experiences have been pretty good with guests. We have never had any substantial damages.
After last night's guests (5 people in a 2 bed, 2 bath) left, an "x" shaped crack, 5-6 inches long, was found in one of our glass shower doors like something had hit it. It isn't the easiest to see the crack (it isn't shattered), but we clean these. Frustratingly, I noticed that a few reviews mentioned the issue with the shower so before booking I directly asked if there was any issues with the water in the shower and was told there were none.
