Just got a TCL TV and have it added to Home Assistant. I'm able to turn it off, on etc. Currently I have an automation that when I walk into the office, it turns on the TV and switches the source to computer.

In this video I'll show you how to connect your Smart TV to Home Assistant and give you some ideas on how you can make your home smarter through automations. I'm looking at TCL TVs and don't have any need for the Roku vs Google vs Android OS (I use Apple TV). I do wish to have HomeAssistant control over basic functions (power, volume, inputs, etc).

From what I can see the Roku version is the most integrated. I'm willing to pay a little premium if that's the case. Just wanted to make sure that was the case.

My HA did pick it up as a generic DNLA media renderer, but the only control it gives me is volume. All I really want is ability to turn on/off and switch inputs. Any suggestions are greatly.

How to turn the TV on from Home Assistant We are going to use an integration called WOL (wake on Lan) to achieve this we are going to need a few things! First we need to connect our TV to an ethernet cable not using WIFI Then, look in your menu on your TV to allow third party devices to turn on the device. It could be obvious or require a bit of googling with your specific TV model. Tested on my S69 series TV.

I have seen some reports about it working on other brands as well, mainly Thomson - Releases popeen/Home. I'm considering moving from an LG Smart TV (which has a Home Assistant integration) to a TCL smart TV but couldn't find any native integration. How are you integrating your TCL smart TVs?

Gotcha. Not that I'm suggesting you should change your setup, but if your TV or projector has bluetooth I suspect you could swap the fire stick for any other streaming stick. Either way, it sounds like the integration isn't working properly after all, hope you're able to get it sorted!
