Bmw Engine Oil Service Required

For my 2011 BMW X5 3.5D, I recently had a routine maintenance/Oil change check (Aug 2013) and today I noticed the car tells me at start up: "Service Required" in about 1200 miles so make an appointment with the dealer. Hi, my wife drives a 2020 BMW x1 and the "engine oil service required" warning came up today. Our oil change is scheduled for 3 days from now but we are reading mixed messages on whether or not the vehicle can be driven until then (approximately 100 more miles due to commute).
