The sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series consists of the BMW F30 (sedan version), BMW F31 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring') and BMW F34 (fastback version, marketed as 'Gran Turismo') compact executive cars. The BMW 5 Series F80 certainly tempts with its poised highway manners, lavish interior, and serious performance. But the F30 3 Series gets you surprisingly close to the F80 experience for substantially less money. For the 2015 model year, BMW introduced their M3 variant of the F30 3 Series.

Known as the F80, this generation of M3 was the first to feature a model code different than the one upon which it is based. The F80 was only available as a sedan as the BMW M4 was introduced in 2014. Powered by the BMW S55 twin turbo straight six engine, the F80 M3 has the distinction of being the first turbocharged.

This generation of the BMW 3 Series (F30 / F31 / F34 / F80) was produced by the German manufacturer BMW between 2012 - 2019. It's a front engined car with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and came as a sedan, wagon or hatchback. There are many power levels available, ranging from a 114 hp 2 L Inline 4 Turbo diesel engine all the way to a 454 hp 3 L Inline 6 Bi.

For the F30/F31/F34 series, the coupe and convertible models were produced from the 2013 year until 2014 when they were split from the 3 Series, redesigned, and sold as the BMW 4 Series.
