But for those of lacking the coin to put us in a Lotus or an Aston, there's a surprisingly affordable alternative that's nearly as stylish and timeless as James Bond himself. That would be the BMW Z3 that featured 20 years ago in the Pierce Brosnan debut GoldenEye.

The Z in Z3 originally stood for Zukunft (German for "future"). The very first BMW assembled in the US was the E36/5, 318i that rolled off the Spartanburg Plant assembly line beginning in October 1994. The Z3 was introduced as a 1996 model year vehicle, shortly after being featured in EON Productions ' 1995 James Bond film, GoldenEye.

A 90s hero for enthusiasts, the Z3's claim to fame was when it became an instant icon, debuting alongside Pierce Brosnan in the 1995 Bond movie, GoldenEye. As one of James Bond's many rides in the movie, the BMW Z3 showcased sleek European styling and performance. No doubt then, the roadster quickly earned a place in pop culture history.

This 1996 BMW Z3 is #66 of 100 built in the James Bond 007 special edition to promote the film Goldeneye, and was delivered through Midwestern Automotive Group of Columbus, Ohio. The car is finished in metallic blue with a beige top and leather interior, and power is from a 1.9. In summer 1994 GoldenEye was in preparation, and cars were an important element for its success.
