U.S. immigration authorities raided Hyundai's Georgia electric vehicle plant, shutting down construction at the adjacent battery factory site. Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) is Hyundai Motor Group's first dedicated electrified vehicle mass-production plant located in Bryan County, GA.

The new plant boasts a highly connected, automated, and flexible manufacturing system, which organically connects all elements of the EV and hybrid ecosystem to realize customer value. The sprawling, 2,900-acre Hyundai Metaplant has two parts: a Hyundai electric vehicle manufacturing site, and an EV battery plant that's a joint venture between Hyundai and LG. The massive new Hyundai EV plant outside of Savannah, Georgia, was raided by ICE on Thursday.

Federal agents took hundreds of people into custody at the site, including executives from LG Energy.
