Pricing: A used 2002 BMW Z3 ranges from $6,108 to $20,895 while a used 2002 Porsche Boxster is priced between $8,388 to $21,951. The Bmw feels and sounds somewhat like a modern XKE (2/3 scale), which isn't a bad thing. The Boxster drives like a mid engine Porsche, which no other car does.

It would be a tough choice although the z3 might win out on simplicity and ease of maintenance. I think the Boxster engine issues were relegated to the first couple years, 97-98. #6.
