A groundhog's legs are short, powerful, and muscular, adapted for digging. They have sharp, sturdy claws on their feet, used for excavating extensive burrow systems. Groundhogs also have four prominent, chisel-like incisor teeth, two upper and two lower, which continuously grow at approximately 1.5 millimeters (1/16 inch) per week.
