I visited the Vanderbilt mansion in February 2023 to see its opulent rooms for myself. Frederick Vanderbilt (1856-1938) was the grandson of Cornelius Vanderbilt (1794-1877), the patriarch of the family and the creator of the vast Vanderbilt fortune. Built in the Beaux-Arts style in the 1890s, the Vanderbilt mansion in Hyde Park has 54 rooms including several bedrooms each with its own bathroom.
