I've owned 3 Toyota hybrids, loved all 3 of them. So I'm not anti-hybrid, it's more of a bmw hybrid that I'm leary about. Anyone know much about them regarding their history/experience, common problems, if they fixed said common problems, reliability, etc? My plan would be to keep this X5 for atleast 10 years, probably closer to 15.

Have now IX but looking at X5 50e or GLE450e to have long cruiser in the garage and concerned about reported problems for both models. So, is PHEV generally too complicate because they have dual power? I like PHEV concept, but can't trust them. A 2020 BMW 5 Series Hybrid experienced multiple system failures, including speedometer warnings and non-functional climate control and AC.

The suspected cause was a faulty heat exchanger temperature sensor, but the actual issue was corrosion on the main control module's connecting pins. Cleaning and resealing the connections resolved the problem at a lower cost than replacing major components.
