At theUniversity of Toronto Scarborough, a classic example of modern Brutalist architecture still stands and is still an integral part of life there. It was a response to the ornate architecture that ruled the 1910s, 1920s and 1930s (think Art Deco and Beaux-Arts) and with its imposing style – it’s named Brutalism for a reason, after all – it’s may just be the most polarizing style of architecture.
