Hyundai says it will expand production capacity by two. Hyundai and Kia currently operate three U.S. production facilities: Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, which was established in 2005; the new Metaplant America electric vehicle factory in Georgia, which began production in late 2024; and the Kia Georgia plant, which began producing vehicles in 2009.

Hyundai completed the factory in less than two years, giving it a massive production line and domestic vehicle manufacturing at a time when the political world is obsessed with imports and tariffs. But back to the new investment. The first 9 billion dollars will be invested to "establish an annual production capacity in the US of 1.2 million vehicles." That includes the company's other plants in Alabama and Georgia, namely the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama factory and Kia Autoland Georgia.
