Create Your Own Folding Table Tennis Table: A DIY Guide

- Table tennis net and posts
- Paint or stain (optional)
Building the Tabletop
The first step is to create the tabletop. You'll need two sheets of 1" thick plywood. Cut each sheet in half lengthwise to create four 2' x 8' pieces. These will be the top and bottom layers of your tabletop.
Lay out the pieces in a 2' x 4' configuration, with the good sides facing each other. Apply wood glue along the edges and clamp the pieces together. Let it dry according to the glue's instructions. Once dry, sand the tabletop smooth.
Creating the Apron and Legs
The apron is the frame that goes around the edge of the tabletop. Cut four pieces of 1/2" plywood, each 2' x 8'. These will be the sides and ends of the apron. Attach them to the edges of the tabletop using 2.5" screws, creating a box around the tabletop.
Next, cut the legs from the remaining 1/2" plywood. You'll need four legs, each 2.5" wide and 3" tall. Attach the legs to the apron using the folding table leg hardware, ensuring they fold up and down smoothly.
Finishing Touches
Once the table is assembled, you can paint or stain it to match your room's decor. Allow the paint or stain to dry completely before setting up your table tennis net and posts.
To install the net, measure and mark the center of the table. This will be where you attach the net's support post. Once the post is secure, attach the net to the post and the other end to the table's edge. Make sure the net is taut and level.

When you're ready to play, unfold the legs and let them down until they're secure. The table should be level and stable. If it's not, you may need to adjust the legs slightly.
