what is the most rare e46 color? i havent seen much of thse colors on the e46 steel blue metalic, oxford green and gray green and what is the difference between jet black and black sapphire metalic? While BMW now calls it Sapphire Black Metallic, the order used to be swapped around as this paint color was referred to as Black Sapphire Metallic for the E46 M3 CSL. The paint code and thus the paint remained the same.

Out of the 2 available paint options Black Sapphire was the lesser chosen one (reportedly 1/4th were painted black). It was only available for the CSL as the regular E46 M3. Carbon Black metallic is as close to a "midnight blue" as a black could be.
