The BMW Museum in Munich is using a special exhibition taking place as part of the international BMW Art Car World Tour to celebrate the 50. The legendary silver and blue BMW M3 GTR from Need for Speed Most Wanted has been made real by BMW, and the company's putting it on display in Munich.

The exhibition, which runs until 1 February 2026, will see the BMW Museum present a trio of Art Cars based on the BMW 3 Series: Sandro Chia's BMW M3 GTR and the BMW M3 (Group A) cars designed by Michael Jagamara Nelson and Ken Done respectively. All three BMW M3 art cars will be assembled as part of the exhibit for the 13th stop on the Art Car World Tour. So, along with Ken Done's 1989 Group A car and Jagamara Nelson's 1989 Group A car, there will also be Sandro Chia's 1992 M3 GTR.

After appearances in a dozen markets across five continents, three Art Cars based on the 3 Series take centre stage at the brand's home museum: Sandro Chia's vivid BMW M3 GTR alongside Group A BMW M3s painted by Michael Jagamara Nelson and Ken. To celebrate the 30 th anniversary of Need for Speed and the release of Unbound's Vol.9 update, BMW has created a real-life version of Most Wanted's iconic hero car, the 2005 M3 GTR E46. It will be displayed at the BMW Welt exhibition in Munich, Germany, from 27 th November to 6 th January.
