Toyota iQ 1.0 to 1.3 engine swap? Hi everyone, My friend has a 2009 iQ that has engine problems. It consumes a lot of oil and the service guys said it's an engine problem they can't fix. I was wondering if you can fit a 1.3 engine from Toyota Yaris in there because the engine codes appear to be the same.

Has anyone heard about this before? Most FWD setups have the driveshafts behind the engine BUT the IQ has the ideal gearbox with the driveshafts in front. However I'm trying to keep it to a simple older engine with minimum electronics so was wondering if something like a simple 90s Toyota 1600cc or similar would mate to the IQ box or could be made too? A swap like that would make the iQ crazy fun.

I read some where that the largest engine that can fit is a 1.6l which I think would be snug but sounds plausible. I would want to keep it in the toyota family I think go after a 7nr-fe and do a turbo myself. But I wouldn't go the horse power route in this it doesn't feel sporty to me.
