Your first stop should be the River, where you can find fish like the Bullhead, Carp, and Catfish. The river is also home to the rare Legendary Fish, the Mutant Carp, which appears randomly during the spring.

Lake Fishing

The Lake is another great spring fishing spot. Here, you can catch fish like the Sunfish, Perch, and Pike. The Lake is also where you'll find the Crab Pot, which can be used to catch Crayfish and Lobsters.

To access the Lake, you'll need to complete the "Fishing Tutorial" quest given by Pierre. Once you've done that, you can fish in the Lake year-round, but keep in mind that some fish are only available in certain seasons.

Mountain Lake Fishing

After unlocking the Mountain area with the "Into the Mountains" quest, you'll gain access to the Mountain Lake. This lake is home to unique fish like the Mountain Minnow and the Crimsonfish. It's also a great spot to catch the rare Legendary Fish, the Lava Eel.

To reach the Mountain Lake, you'll need to navigate through the Mountain paths, so be prepared for a bit of a hike. The lake is worth the trip, though, as it's one of the best places to catch high-value fish.

Summer Fishing Spots

The Ocean is a summer-only fishing spot. To access it, you'll need to complete the "The Old Mariner" quest given by the Old Mariner in the Sewers. The Ocean is home to unique fish like the Mahi-Mahi, Tuna, and the rare Legendary Fish, the Angler.

Night Fishing

Summer is also a great time to try your hand at Night Fishing. Many fish species are more active at night, and some are only available during the nighttime hours. To go night fishing, you'll need a Fishing Rod and a Lantern.

Night fishing can be a bit challenging, as you can't see the fish shadows, but it's a great way to catch unique fish like the Octopus and the Squid.

Crab Pot Fishing

Summer is also the best time to use your Crab Pot. You can catch Crayfish and Lobsters year-round, but they're much more common in the summer. The Crab Pot can be placed in any body of water, but it works best in the Lake and the Ocean.

To use the Crab Pot, simply place it in the water and wait for a few minutes. When it's full, you'll see a bubble rise to the surface. Click on the bubble to collect your catch.

Fall and Winter Fishing Spots

Fall and winter bring their own unique fishing challenges, with some fish species becoming more common, and others becoming unavailable.

The River and Lake are still great fishing spots in the fall and winter, but you'll need to be prepared for colder weather. In winter, the Lake freezes over, making it impossible to fish there, but the River remains open year-round.

Fall Fishing

Fall is a great time to catch fish like the Walleye, Largemouth Bass, and the rare Legendary Fish, the Glacierfish. You can also catch the Pufferfish in the fall, which is a unique fish that inflates when threatened.

To catch the Pufferfish, you'll need to use a Crab Pot in the Lake during the fall. It's a rare catch, but it's worth the effort to add this unique fish to your collection.

Winter Fishing

Winter is a challenging time for fishing, as many fish species become less common, and the weather can be harsh. However, it's still possible to catch some unique fish, like the Ice Pip and the Snow Geode.

The Mountain Lake is a great winter fishing spot, as it's one of the few places where you can catch the Legendary Fish, the Ice Pip, during the winter months.

Fishing in Stardew Valley is a rewarding hobby that offers a variety of challenges and rewards. Whether you're fishing for profit, to complete a quest, or just for the love of the sport, there's always something new to discover. So grab your fishing rod and get out there! Who knows what you'll catch next?
