WHAT IF<\/strong>
\nWhat if we could use a software infrastructure to develop a culture that makes high-quality decision products a priority – as if facts, logic, future consequences, and preserving the integrity of those decisions are factors that matter?<\/p>\n

WHAT WE SET OUT TO DO<\/strong>
\nOur objectives were to assess the human and technical infrastructure required to support the systematic construction of complex group-decision products and the procedures necessary to ensure their long-term integrity.<\/p>\n

WHAT WE FOUND<\/strong>
\nWe developed and demonstrated a decision- products methodology and initial virtual decision support environment and held two workshops on augmented decision systems using this methodology. We prototyped a cloud-based course that can be used to evaluate educational, technical and institutional mechanisms required to ensure the long-term integrity of intellectual work products, and we demonstrated the effectiveness of this process.<\/p>\n

PEOPLE BEHIND THE PROJECT<\/strong>
\n\"\"Robert Laughlin<\/a><\/strong> is Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of Physics at Stanford University. Professor Laughlin is a theorist with interests ranging from hard-core engineering to cosmology. He is an expert in semiconductors (Nobel Prize 1998) and has also worked on plasma and nuclear physics issues related to fusion and nuclear-pumped X-ray lasers. He is also the author of A Different Universe, a lay-accessible book explaining emergent law.<\/p>\n

\"\"Neil Jacobstein<\/a><\/strong> Chairs the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Track at Singularity University on the NASA Research Park campus in Mountain View, California. He Chaired AAAI\u2019s 17th Innovative Applications of Artificial Intelligence Conference, and continues to review technical papers on the IAAI Technical Program Committee. Neil has served as a technical consultant on AI research and development projects for: DARPA, NSF, NASA, NIH, EPA, DOE, the U.S. Army and Air Force, GM, Ford, Boeing, Applied Materials, NIST, and other agencies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
