Devices (Client)
This section covers the porting of the Product 10.3 "Client" tab to the new Product 11.0 "Devices" tab.
Devices Page: Display a list of devices
- Audience & purpose
- As an Automation Product Admin you want to see all Devices that are registered with Product.
Displaying a list of devices
Use the following guidelines to display a list of devices.
- The binding of you and a machine will be shown in the Product → Devices → Robot Runners tab. See the following screenshot.
- Your user status:
- Connected: If you have an active session with Product, your Status will be shown as "Connected".
- Disconnected: If the session is inactive, your Status will be shown as "Disconnected".
- Offline: If you were "deactivated" from the "User" management page, your Status will be shown as "Offline".
- More than one user can connect to Product from a device. There will be a separate entry for each of the users in the "Robot Runners" table.
- When a user is deleted from Product, their record from the Robot Runners table will also be deleted.
- When a deleted user is recreated with the same details and logs-in to Product from a device, the device will be shown in the Robot Runners table.
- This device could be an old device or a different device.
- When there are no devices registered with Product, the embedded help will display as shown in the following screenshot:
- The breadcrumb trail will show "Device → Robot Runners" when the you are on the Robot Runners page.
- When the total number of devices is more than what is visible in the table, it will be shown as "X of Y", where:
- X = The number of devices being shown on the page.
- Y = The total number of devices.
- The default sort will be on the "Status" column.
Security
Security-related data (such as IP address, Application path, etc.) will not be shown in the Devices table.
Audit Entry
No Audit Entry will be displayed for the registration/deregistration of a device since it is already handled in the "Log in" and "Delete user" areas.
Filter and export of device data
- Audience & purpose
-
As an Automation Product Admin, you want to filter and export details of devices from where our Robot Creators and Robot Runners have connected to Product. This achieves the following goals:
- Filtering: Facilitates faster search/navigation to the desired data.
- Exporting: Saves a "point in time" data item outside of Product and allows sharing with non-Product users.
Filter
Use the following guidelines to filter device data.
- You will be able to:
- Filter the information shown in the Devices table.
- Perform a free text search on all columns in the Devices table.
- For example, when you type "Status=line", the system will show results wherever "Status" contains "line".
- In this case, all devices with an offline status will be listed.
- For the filtering on column names:
- The system will provide dynamic suggestions.
- For example, when you are searching for usernames and type "Robe", suggestions will keep narrowing down with every additional character typed.
- Only existing values will be considered for suggestions.
- You will be able to select the value of a column from an available pre-defined list.
- For example, if you want to filter on Status, you will be shown "Connected", "Disconnected", and "Offline" values to choose from.
- An auto-populated count of search terms will also be displayed and keep being updated as and when a search term updates.
- The result set will be shown as X of Y, where:
- X = The search result.
- Y = The total number of records in the table.
- You will be able to reset the search query.
- The system will remember the last filter applied by you per session.
"AND" vs "OR"
- When you have performed a search on one column, you will be able to further augment the search results.
- If a second search is performed on a different column, it will be treated as "AND". For example: Status=Disconnected AND name=John.
- If a second search is performed on the same column, it will be treated as "OR". For example: Status=Disconnected OR Status=Offline.
Export
Use the following guidelines to export device data.
- You will be able to:
- Export selected data or all of the data from the Devices table.
- Export filtered data from the Robot Runners table.
- Hidden column(s), if any, will not be exported.
- Data will be exported in a CSV (Comma-Separated Values) file.
- The name of the exported CSV will be Robot Runners.<YYYY>.<MM>.<DD>.HHMMSS
- Columns in an exported CSV file will be in the same order as that on the your user screen (consider your column reordering).
Run and schedule a Robot from Devices page
- Audience & purpose
-
As an Product Admin, you want to run a Robot on a set of pre-selected devices.
- This will give you added flexibility, in addition to performing a run and schedule from the Robots page.
Description
- 1. Row level action
- You want to trigger a run or schedule an automation on an individual device from the "Device" → "Robot runners" and "Robot creators and Robot runners" page.
- 2. Table level action
- You want to select multiple devices and trigger a run or schedule automation on those.
- 3. Page level toolbar
- You want to trigger a run or schedule automation without selecting any device.
- This will take you to the "Robot + dependencies" wizard in the "Create automation" page.
- 4. Note:
- You will not be allowed to trigger a run or schedule on "Robot creators" type devices.
- You will not be allowed to run an automation on disconnected devices.
Security
You will not be allowed to trigger a run or schedule on the devices on which you do not have access.
Sorting device data
- Audience & purpose
- As an Automation Product Admin you want to sort the Devices data as per username and column.
Sorting
Use the following guidelines regarding sorting.
- You will be able to sort up to three columns by pressing the Shift key.
- Sorting will be performed on the entire table data and not just on the data that is currently visible to you.
- Column headers will display the applied sorting.
- The system will remember the last sort applied by you per session.
