Migration
This section covers the management and migration of system credentials from Credential Vault 1.0 to Credential Vault 2.0.
Migrate existing CV 1.0 system credentials to CV 2.0
- Audience & purpose
- As a Product 10.0 LTS customer upgrading to 11.0, you want your system credentials to be automatically migrated to Credential Vault 2.0 so that your existing automation tasks using Email settings or AutoLogin settings continue to work as usual.
System credentials (present in Credential Vault 1.0)
The following prerequisite system credentials are assumed to be in Credential Vault 1.0.
- Client: Email settings, AutoLogin
- Product: SMTP settings, VCS settings
Migrating Product-side system credentials (in Credential Vault 2.0)
When upgrading Product from 10 LTS to 11.0, the existing system credentials viz. SMTP settings, VCS settings (if any) stored in Credential Vault 1.0 will be migrated to Credential Vault 2.0 using an inbuilt system locker for the Product Admin. The system credentials will:
- Be "Common" and "Masked" by default.
- Be assigned to the system locker and will not be visible in the All Credentials list.
Migrating Client-side system credentials (in Credential Vault 2.0)
When upgrading a Client from 10 LTS to 11.0, the existing system credentials viz. Email settings, AutoLogin (if any) stored in Credential Vault 1.0 should be migrated to Credential Vault 2.0 using an inbuilt system locker for each user. The system credentials will be:
- User-specific and Masked by default.
- Assigned to the user's system locker and will not be visible in the All Credentials list.
Important note: If there are any user-defined credentials in Credential Vault 1.0, they should NOT be migrated to CV 2.0. The Customer will need to set them separately in CV 2.0.
Use case 1: SMTP settings
- Login to Product 11.0 as a Product Admin.
- Add or edit any user record.
- An email notification will be sent to the respective user by fetching the SMTP settings from Credential Vault 2.0
Use Case 2: AutoLogin settings
- Login to Product 11.0 as a Product Admin.
- Schedule a task to run on three Robot runners - BR1, BR2, and BR3.
- Ensure BR1, BR2, and BR3 have AutoLogin settings and their respective machines are locked or logged off.
- When a task runs on each of these Robot runners:
- The AutoLogin settings of the respective user will be fetched from Credential Vault 2.0.
- They will be used to login the respective Robot runners.
Use case 3: VCS settings
- Login to Client 11.0 as a Robot creator.
- Check-out a migrated task and edit it (from Product 10 LTS).
- Check-in the task to Product (and VCS).
- When a task is checked out and then checked in, the VCS settings will be fetched from Credential Vault 2.0 and used to connect to the SVN Repository.
Migration of files from the "My Lists" folder
- Audience & purpose
- Anyone having any files/folders under "My Lists" will be moved to a different folder. The "My Lists" folder will be removed from the new version of Product: 11.0.
Moving files/folders
Use the following guidelines to move files/folders.
- If the "My Lists" folder contains any files/folders, inform the user that the contents will be moved to the "My Docs" folder.
- Give the user an option to specify the new folder name under the "My Docs" folder.
- By default, they will be moved under the "My Lists" folder under/within the "My Docs" folder.
- If another folder exists with the same name, append timestamp to make it unique.
- Users/roles which had access to the old "My Lists" folder will have the same access to the newly created folder.
