BANGALORE Metro Rail Corporation has issued an invitation to tender for a contract to lengthen its fleet of 50 three-car trains, which were supplied by a consortium of BEML, Mitsubishi and Hyundai Rotem for the initial phase of the network. The order will comprise 63 vehicles for the Purple Line and 87 cars for the Green Line. RAIL & METRO OVERVIEW BEML is a premier, Metro car manufacturer in the country.

BEML was the first Company in India to manufacture all Steel Integral Passenger Rail Coaches and other rolling stock to meet the requirements of Indian Railways. BEML has extensive experience in metro train deliveries, having previously supplied over 2,000 metro cars to various Indian cities. In some cases, the deliveries were made in consortium with Japan's Mitsubishi and South Korea's Hyundai Rotem.

The coaches are world-class, manufactured by Hyundai Rotem Korea and Mitsubishi Electric Company. BEML has the licence to manufacture coaches in Bangalore. While Mitsubishi supplied traction for the coaches, Hyundai Rotem supplied the rolling stock and BEML the coaches.
