Bmw F10 Yellow Grommet

How to clean the dreaded yellow grommet on bmw F10. I mentioned the yellow grommet issue to the BMW specialist who serviced my F10 (2015 535d) recently. He'd never heard of it, and looked at me as if I was a bit potty.

This makes me wonder how common an issue it is, so I had a go at removing the plenum cover thingy in order to assess the grommet's condition. I just couldn't manage to remove the bolt that goes into the inner wing, mainly because. This is a really common issue on F10/11's.

Sometimes debris causes water to settle around the grommet and leak into the cabin. There's a sticky thread on the BMW5forum about how to fix it. I was aware of the issue, BMW Car magazine had a brief article about it a couple of years ago.

The drain being of poor design blocks, water accumulates and forces its way passed a yellow grommet in the bulkhead. Cash be made worse if vehicle parked slightly uphill. Car was taken to BMW main dealer for investigation and this was the issue.

Resultant damage. New grommet required, (£30), which will be bonded in previously only. Found some other posts in other forums about water coming in from the bulkhead yellow grommet with pictures and even videos, honesly i dont know what the **** they are describing or where it is located, the picture and videos dont have relation to other parts of the car so i dont even know what im looking at ***x1f923;***x1f602;.

Hey I hope everyone is ok,I have 520d f10 and have recently noticed a puddle of water in the rear passenger footwell, its baffled me where this is coming from as I've checked around door seals and their dont seem to be any sign of water would be grateful for any advice if this has happened to. Recently purchased a 2010 F10 520d. A few days in my ownership and the weather here in Dublin turned pretty rainy and soon enough i found the rear footwell on the passenger side soaked.

Took the car to a local BMW indy garage and they fixed the leaked - yellow grommet being the culprit! Yes it was the windscreen - seal broken on driver side only. Yellow grommet and rear door seal flooding passenger side.
