Bmw R1200 Fuel Strip

The fuel pump/warning switch assembly for the R nine T Pure (pictured above) and later models uses only one connector for both the pump and the switch whereas my 2012 R1200RT has two connectors, one for the fuel pump and one for the fuel strip. There are hundreds of posts here about the failure of the fuel gauge on the pre LC versions of the R12R. However, I couldn't find any discussing the possibility of replacing the strip altogether by the float version BMW introduced in the GS and RT in 2010.

In this video (link) a guy shows how. The fuel strip issue has been a thorn in the side of many riders you would thing a viable alternative would spread like wildfire in the basically small BMW communities. New to me 2010 R1200RT.

Fuel gauge worked properly for a week after I purchased the bike. Couple days ago, was out riding, gauge functioned properly for around 30 minutes, then nothing. Instead of doing the fuel strip zap I've seen and read so much about, I'd like to replace the strip with.

Took my 2008 R1200GS back to the shop to get the fuel sensor strip replaced (used for less than 200 miles) under warranty. The technician / mechanic advised that I wait 3 weeks as BMW will be releasing a new upgraded version that should get rid of the horrendous issues associated with the. We had developed an alternative fuel sensor for BMW motorbikes.

This sensor may be used in several models of the Germany Brand as r1200gs/adventure k1200s/rt/gt an more. Visit Fuel Sensor Tech. The fuel strip in my 08 was bad when I bought it last July.

In November I bought a new fuel strip because MAX BMW had a 20% off deal making the strip $187. Put it in and it worked great for about 4 months and recently went tits up. To get a replacement I had to take the bike to a BMW dealership so they could witness the failed light (of course they did not even look at the bike just said yep.

Fuel strip is not working on my R1200RT I tried repairing the fuel strip with the Piezo lighter trick, but am not sure if I am doing it right. Attached is a photo of the Piezo lighter that I removed from a gas fire in the house. It has one wire, which fits perfectly onto the terminals of the fuel strip.

I noticed in the tutorials that guys are using two wires simultaneously, so not sure if the. So finally! BMW HAVE issued a new and improved fuel strip for the R1200R at least and this is promised to cure the problem. It was issed last october and i spoke with the local BMW dealer and they have not had one fail at all since fitting the new item.
