Hyundai Rotem Double Decker

South Korea's Hyundai Rotem has won a double-decker train order worth around 2.2 trillion won ($1.54 billion) from Morocco's state-owned rail operator ONCF, the company said on Wednesday. Korea's Hyundai Rotem agreed to supply the Moroccan National Railways Office with its double-decker electric train for 2.2 trillion won ($1.5 billion), marking the train-to-defense system manufacturer's biggest single deal to date and first entry into the North African country. The Hyundai Motor Group affiliate agreed to supply Morocco with an unspecified number of trains through Jan.

The latest deal is expected to push the company's rail order backlog to an all. Hyundai Rotem has secured an additional train order in the United States, further solidifying its presence in the American railway vehicle market. On August 14 (local time), the South Korean company signed a main contract with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) for the supply of double-decker cars worth $175.79 million.
