I didn't even realize different color cards were in play in this game, so my question is, do you have to abide by color when making deck for any sort of play?

Star Wars: Unlimited currently has seven different card variants to find as you begin diving into the game, with some found in normal Booster Packs, and others exclusively available in premium Carbonite Edition Booster Packs. Some variants can be applied to any card, and others only appear on specific card types or select lists of cards.

Unlike some cards dual-color cards like "Overwhelming Barrage" paying color cost for any of these is unlikely to be worth your time. Paying 8 for a "Mercenary Company" isn't going to feel nearly as great as paying 7 for "Overwhelming Barrage".
