Here's my theory: Sonic and the other characters likely have humanoid feet. I know it sounds wild, but stick with me. We all know that Sonic, Coconuts, Kiki Badniks, and all Mobians such as Tails, Amy Rose, Big the Cat, Tikal the Echidna, and so on, have no toes at all on their feet due to evolution in the Sonic Universe, due to the very weird lore of Sonic the Hedgehog.

But there are a few questions that come to my mind, as to the origin of this design, as I have not been able to answer them myself. All of this happened due to Sonic Adventure 2. Apparently the people who worked at it, couldn't render right Big's toes due to the graphics at the time.
