Certainly it would make sense to provide a bike that a naked bike rider would like, a fully faired bike like the RT, and the cool factor of the RS. My book "BMW Profiles: Motorcycles from Berlin" does show performance differences between the bikes: - R100 -- 67Hp, 72 Nm torque @ 5500, 8:2.1 compression - R100CS -- 70Hp, 76 Nm @ 6000, 9:5.1 - R100RT -- 70Hp, 77 Nm @ 5500, 9:5.1. Hello Team, I'm going to look at an R 100 GS PD next week, and can't find anything resembling a buyers guide.

The brakes. I've modified my GS with a 4 piston caliper from a later BMW and a stainless brake line. Its a worthwhile improvement, but still nowhere near modern bikes.
The narrow front tire also effectively limits front braking power. I think buying an R100GS and then trying to modify to get an extra 20.
