1) Jack the passenger side of the car up. Use a floor jack and a safety. Side of bell housing, pretty easy to get to from under the car.

Hey all, I've been looking around at different threads and can not seem to find one that says where the Crankshaft Position Sensor is located on a 2000 540i 8Cyl engine. Can anyone possibly help? Just got the new one and was trying to replace it. I have a '97 E39; I have to replace crankshaft position sensor.

Can anyone give me directions how to replace and location of CPS in this model. Thanks.
