Toyota Jeep Engine

The Toyota Land Cruiser (J40) is a series of Land Cruisers made by Toyota from 1960 until 2001. The 40 series Land Cruisers featured a traditional body on frame construction, and most were built as 2. Just curious if anyone has tried to put a Toyota engine, trans etc in a jeep and how hard it would be to make it fit with fabrication etc.

I love the dependability of Toyota trucks. Had a Tacoma for years with no problems. I have a cj5 and just tired of replacing stuff on it.

Wanted to redo the. Long before it became a symbol of robust off-road capability, this Toyota was a blatant Jeep copycat. Toyota SUV engine's from the same time frame as the 4.0L Jeep include the 22re, 3.0L, and 3.4L.

The 22re is a well known little engine, it doesn't make much power but it never dies. Its arguable more reliable than the Jeep 4.0L. The 3.0L on the other hand is known for blowing up every 100k miles.

By blowing up I mean over heating and killing the head gaskets. The 3.4L is much more reliable. I'm looking for advice.

I have a 2020 Tacoma TRD off road now. I like it, but I keep looking at new Jeeps too along with new 4runners. If I went wrangler it would be a 2 door Willy's 3.6, auto, hard top.
