In the 1960s, Ferrari colours were sometimes named after thoroughbred racehorses. One such color, Bull Lea, was named after an American-bred racehorse born in 1935 and was available as an option from the late 1960s through the 1970s. Amaranto comes from the red hue commonly found in amaranthus, a diverse group of over 50 plant species.
