Hello everyone, I successfully (?) changed my valve cover this weekend though one of the bolts in the middle (see pic below) broke, despite the fact the torque wrench was set to 6 ft/lbs according to The 50's Kid's video. I looked for the parts at realoem.com but couldn't find it in the. The original BMW stud is discontinued so we made our own! This valve cover stud bolt was used on M50, M52, M52tu, M54, S50, and S52 straight six cylinder engines, as found in many E36 and E46 3 Series, E39 and E60 5 Series, E83 X3, E53 X5 3.0 liter, Z3 and E85/E86 Z4 non.

As far as I'm aware, all valve cover bolts across BMW engines are M6 (10mm) so all valve bolt washers should be very similar if not the same.
They certainly look like the washers from me 330ci M54 engine. thank you all for suggestions and explainations! I just finished disassembling the bolts: after 2 10mm keys broken -_- the only key that was able to do the job was the BMW key I have in the trunk! I'll investigate some tutorials on the pattern to tight the valve cover, if you have one to link is well accepted.
