Bedroom Colour Schemes 2015 – 10 Stunning Designs to Transform Your Space

2015 marked a pivotal shift in interior design, moving away from the stark minimalism of previous years towards a more layered and emotionally resonant aesthetic. The bedroom colour schemes of this period reflected that evolution, prioritising warmth, texture, and a sense of personal sanctuary. Homeowners and designers alike sought hues that promoted deep relaxation and a gentle retreat from the daily grind, favouring sophisticated neutrals alongside surprisingly vibrant accents.

Embracing Warm Neutrals

The dominant trend throughout 2015 was a move towards warm, grounding neutrals that created an immediate sense of comfort. Colours like soft camel, greys with brown undertones, and muted oatmeal replaced the cooler greys and stark whites that had dominated earlier in the decade. These shades acted as the perfect backdrop, allowing for texture in textiles like chunky knit throws and woven rugs to take centre stage. The goal was a bedroom that felt inviting and cocoon-like, a true haven from the outside world.

The Rise of Deep, Moody Accents

While the primary palette remained light and airy, 2015 saw a bold trend in incorporating deep, moody accents to add depth and character. Navy blue, forest green, and even rich charcoal were used selectively, often in an accent wall, bedding, or a statement piece of furniture. This contrast between the soft base and the intense hue created a sophisticated drama that felt both modern and timeless. It was a deliberate move to add personality without overwhelming the space.

Gender-Neutral Sanctuaries

Moving away from traditionally gendered palettes, the bedroom colour schemes of 2015 leaned heavily into androgynous and sophisticated combinations. Shades of greys, soft blues, and muted greens were popular across all bedroom types, creating a serene and unified aesthetic. This approach allowed for a more personalised space based on individual taste rather than societal norms, focusing on creating a peaceful environment suitable for any sleeper.

Nature's Palette Indoors

Inspired by a collective desire for calm, many colour schemes drew heavily from the natural world. Dusty sage greens, pale terracottas, and greys reminiscent of weathered stone brought an organic feel into the bedroom. These earthy tones were often complemented by natural materials like raw wood, linen, and stone, reinforcing the connection to the outdoors and promoting a tranquil, grounded atmosphere.

The Power of Metallics

Metallics played a subtle yet significant role in 2015 bedroom design, but they were far from the brassy golds of previous eras. Instead, brushed nickel, antique brass, and soft copper finishes were preferred. These metals were incorporated through bedside lamps, frame details, and drawer handles, adding a touch of understated glamour that complemented the neutral and earthy colour schemes beautifully.

Ultimately, the bedroom colour schemes of 2015 were defined by a thoughtful balance between serenity and subtle statement. The focus was on creating a personal refuge that felt both stylish and deeply comfortable, proving that the most inviting spaces are those that reflect a considered blend of trend and timeless tranquillity.
