The Big Hair Brigade: A Look at Cartoon Characters with Volume

Big hair has been a staple of cartoon culture for decades, with characters like Jessica Rabbit and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas showcasing some of the most iconic hairstyles in animation history.

But big hair isn't just a novelty – it's a way to express personality, showcase creativity, and add visual interest to a character's design.

In this article, we'll take a closer look at some of the most memorable cartoon characters with big hair and explore what makes their styles so iconic.

Jessica Rabbit, the sassy and seductive wife of Roger Rabbit from the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit, is arguably the most iconic cartoon character with big hair. Her curvaceous figure and bouffant hairstyle have become synonymous with 1940s and 1950s Hollywood glamour.

But Jessica's big hair is more than just a fashion statement – it's a key part of her character. Her voluminous locks are often used to express her emotions, with her hair standing on end when she's upset or fluffed up when she's feeling confident.

Jessica's big hair has also had a lasting impact on popular culture, inspiring countless cosplayers and fashion designers to recreate her iconic style.

Sally, the rag doll created by Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas, has a big hair style that's both haunting and lovely. Her long, curly locks are often styled in a messy, undone look that adds to her endearing and quirky personality.

Sally's big hair is also a key part of her character's design, serving as a contrast to the more polished and refined look of the other characters in the film. Her wild, curly locks make her stand out as a unique and lovable character in the world of Halloween Town.

Of course, Jessica and Sally aren't the only cartoon characters with big hair. Other notable examples include:

* Penelope Pitstop from the 1960s cartoon The Perils of Penelope Pitstop, who sports a big hair style that's both stylish and sporty.

* Velma from the Scooby-Doo franchise, who often wears her big hair in a neat and tidy bun.

* The Powerpuff Girls, who all have big hair styles that are both fun and feminine.

So why do cartoon characters with big hair remain so iconic and beloved? There are a few reasons:

* Big hair can add visual interest to a character's design, making them stand out in a crowded scene.

* Big hair can be used to express a character's personality, mood, or emotions.

* Big hair can be a way to showcase a character's creativity and individuality.
