The Villages, a highly developed residential community in Central Florida, is located within the native habitat of the American alligator. Alligators are present in the community, as they are found throughout all 67 counties of Florida. Villagers can expect to see an increasing amount of alligator activity here in Floridas Friendliest Hometown.
Alligator courtship begins in April and actual mating occurs in May or June. In The Villages, one woman caught the wild moments last week when an alligator was captured after it was found lounging at someones door. These animals are a vital part of Floridas ecosystem but can be dangerous if provoked or crowded.

In almost 30 years we havent ever seen an alligator until after Hurricane Milton flooded the city, again, last year just like when Hurricane Ian came through in 2022 but didnt give us any alligators. Gatorland is great, you'll see thousands of 'em. Though it'll be hot this time of year, there's not much A/C to be had.
