Anxious People Book Review
Humorous, compassionate, and wise, Anxious People is an ingeniously constructed story about the enduring power of friendship, forgiveness, and hopethe things that save us, even in the most anxious of times. Anxious People was hilarious, heartwarming, thought provoking and entertaining. Its one of my all time favorites and one I highly recommend to anyone interested in character-driven, uplifting, quirky and at times overly optimistic stories of redemption.
Backmans latest novel focuses on how a shared event can change the course of multiple peoples lives even in times of deep and ongoing anxiousness. The observer/narrator is winding and given to tangents and, in early moments, might distract a bit too much from the strongly drawn characters. Fredrik Backman does it spectacularly with the entertaining conundrum Anxious People.
As equally idiosyncratic and iconoclastic as his debut, it is an outrageously hilarious, flawless novel about how a bank robber failed to rob a bank but instead managed to spark a hostage drama. Anxious People Book Review Anxious People is a refreshing take on the challenges we face in everyday life, particularly regarding mental health and interpersonal relationships. Fredrik Backmans innovative storytelling and memorable character development make the book an impactful read. After a failed bank robbery attempt, the would-be bank robber holds an apartment full of potential buyers hostage.
Eventually the hostages are let go, but the bank robber has disappeared. The father-son cop duo must solve how the bank robber escaped. This book was amazing from start to finish.
Anxious People starts as a bizarre, almost slapstick situation: a failed bank robbery leads to a group of strangers held hostage in an apartment. At first, I wasnt sure if the quirky chaos would click for mebut then Backman did what he always does.
