Barter Theatre Dress Code
Barter Theatre does not have a dress code, but many patrons choose to dress business casual. We encourage you to dress for the occasion, whatever celebration or night out you may be enjoying, but we want your experience to be comfortable. Dress to fit your mood and days activities.
Dressy casual is worn by most but shorts and jeans are also acceptable at any time. People tend to dress up more for weekend evening performances or when they are celebrating special events. Wear what you like, bring whoever youd like, and please dont hesitate to let us know if you need any assistance throughout your visit.
We offer free parking, and volunteers will direct you to whichever performance space you visit that day. Barter Theatre is the nation's longest running professional theater, producing roughly 20 titles annually in world-class quality repertory. Adhering to the dress code set forth by the producer.
Encouraging cast members to perform to the best of their ability, ensuring that all cast members in the assigned team are present and accounted for, reminding them of appropriate behavior as required, and monitoring participants during lunch, breaks, and between rehearsals and workshops. I prefer to dress business casual but not everyone does. While no one will kick you out, I do find it a bit disrespectful (as someone who works in the arts) when people show up in their sweaty gym clothes and sneakers as it feels like youre saying the show isnt worth putting in an effort for.
Here's what previous visitors have asked, with answers from representatives of Barter Theatre and other visitors Is there a dress code for attending the theater? While there are no specific rules as to what you should wear to the theatre (as long as you are fully clothed), attending a show is a special event that you have most likely paid money to enjoy. For a formal theater, consider wearing dressier attire such as a cocktail dress or a suit.
For an outdoor venue, dress in layers and bring a jacket or sweater for cooler temperatures. Casual clothes but no t-shirts, flip flops, shorts, etc, kind of a nicer casual. Take a light sweater if you are inclined to get chilly.
Enjoy! PS. People are there in all sorts of dress. For some of the Wizard of Oz matinees the children were in little short outfits but that is special, if you know what I mean.
