Since its establishment in 1955, the church has been a leader in social action, outreach, and community service. At church, Christy faces dismissive remarks from fellow congregants regarding Anna's suffering, which leads her to question her beliefs. This emotional turmoil adds strain to her already fragile faith.
Determined to seek help, Christy makes a daring decision to take Anna to Boston to see Dr. Samuel Nurko despite not having an appointment. God touched Garner's heart during the film's making. She told an audience at T.D. Jake's church, The Potter's House, said that the Beam family's faith was a big part of that transformation.
