NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Noel Fox, a former bass singer with the Oak Ridge Boys who became a power in the music business, died at a Nashville hospital after surgery following a series of strokes. Former bass singer with the Oak Ridge Boys.

NAUJECK Staff Writer Douglas ''Noel'' Fox, 63, an early bass singer for the Oak Ridge Boys, died Thursday after surgery following a stroke last week. ''It's sad to lose someone like Noel Fox,'' longtime band manager Jim Halsey said.

When Harper departed in 1968 to join the Don Light Talent Agency (before starting his own company, the Harper Agency), Noel Fox, formerly of the Tennesseans and the Harvesters, took over the bass part. In 1971, the Oak Ridge Boys earned their first Grammy Award for a Jerry Reed song, "Talk About the Good Times"; Reed played guitar on the track.
Biography Noel Fox sang bass for the Harvesters and for the Tennesseans Quartet in the early to mid 1960s. He then sang bass with the Oak Ridge Boys from the late 1960s until 1972. In 1978, he began managing the Oak's publishing company, Silverline/Goldline Music Inc.
He later moved on to become vice president of MCA Music/Nashville where he worked alongside Tony Brown. He was also president ...
