North Korea End War

The Korean War (25 June 1950 27 July 1953) was an armed conflict fought on the Korean Peninsula between North Korea (Democratic People's Republic of Korea; DPRK) and South Korea (Republic of Korea; ROK) and their allies. Against this backdrop, 38 North spoke with General (Ret.) Dan Fig Leaf to gain his perspective on the current situation on and around the Korean Peninsula, his proposal to formally end the Korean War, and the opportunities and challenges that such an initiative entails.

North Korea fired ballistic missiles into the sea on Sunday, accelerating its missile launches amid Iran war tensions and talk of possible meetings with the U.S. and South Korea. The Korean War is the name given to a civil war between the nations of North Korea and South Korea, which were created out of the occupation zones of the Soviet Union and United States established at the end of World War II.

North Korea has vowed to totally destroy its enemies in case of war when leader Kim Jong-un gives an order, state media KCNA reported on Sunday, as the regime marked the end of... : North Korean forces crossed the 38 th Parallel and invaded South Korea. The UN condemned the attack and passed United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 82, calling for the cessation of hostilities and withdrawal of North Korean forces.

After three years of fighting, over 1 million combat casualties, and at least that many civilian deaths, the situation on the Korean peninsula was restored to the status quo ante bellum (the state existing before the war). The armistice was signed on 27 July 1953, and was designed to "ensure a complete cessation of hostilities and of all acts of armed force in Korea until a final peaceful settlement is achieved." [2]
