Oregon Air Quality Smoke
The Air Quality Index is a daily index of air quality that reports how clean the air is and provides information on potential health risks. Oregons index is based on three pollutants regulated by the federal Clean Air Act: ground-level ozone, particle pollution and nitrogen dioxide. The map above shows current fires and air quality at monitors around the state.
The colors indicate Air Quality Index (AQI) health levels. The numbers you see when clicking on an icon are PM 2.5 concentrations, not AQI levels. For AQI numbers, visit DEQ's AQI.
Satellite-detected smoke plumes are not visible at night or through clouds. Plumes are most detectable in the afternoon and indicate atmospheric smoke that may not affect ground-level air quality. Air Quality This map displays air quality data that indicates whether the air in a selected area is healthy or potentially dangerous
Our GAIA air quality monitors are very easy to set up: You only need a WIFI access point and a USB compatible power supply. Once connected, your real time air pollution levels are instantaneously available on the maps and through the API. Air Quality Index Map This map shows the Air Quality Index (AQI), which is an index for reporting daily air quality in your area.

This interactive map from AirNow shows location-based air quality conditions based on fine particulate matter (PM2.5) concentrations. It also shows fire locations from incidents and satellite detections as well as smoke plumes detected by satellites.
In the early 1970's when monitoring of air first started, Oregon had serious air pollution problems. The Portland region sometimes violated the national air quality standard for ozone (smog) by as much as 50 percent! AirNow is your one-stop source for air quality data.
Our recently redesigned site highlights air quality in your local area first, while still providing air quality information at state, national, and world views. No News.
