Power Vent Water Heater Noise Level
One way to make the replacement code compliant is by installing a power vent water heater. Since this is going to be inside the house (not the garage), I'm worried that the power vent noise might be quite annoying. I couldn't find noise levels specified anywhere on manufacturer specs.

We have a power vent water heater that cycles on and off throughout the night. The noise is not a problem during the day but I would like to eliminate it as much as possible at night.

Blowers eventually fail usually after years of use. Replace the blower assembly. Simple and fast.
2. Loose Electrical Connections. Vibration over time can loosen wiring.
Its hard to tell if these are serious problems with PDV water heaters. Our water heater is in a utility room with a Bryant condensing furnace that has a powered exhaust fan and the furnace noise is hardly noticeable. As in, there seems to be a bit of stress on it, and I'm sure that adds to the way sound resonates up to the framing from which it's hung.
But even without that, the blower itself is LOUD. So what're my options on a power vent that doesn't make so damned much noise? I just had a Rheem Power Vent (43V50E2) installed and the sound from the PVC exhaust is extremely loud.
The fan sounds like a hair dryer as I suspected but the exhaust is loud enough where it is audible across the street in my neighbor's yard. Honestly- how loud are power vent water heaters? We're having some slight issues with backdrafting, and we're considering a power vent water heater. How bad are they, really?
No idea how loud a hybrid heatpump is, but a gas power vent isn't terrible. It's not silent like an atmospheric water heater but it's not bad either. I'd avoid putting it directly under a bedroom if possible unless you sleep with a fan on.
It heats water great, but my only concern is the extremely noisy blower. Its not the exhaust air venting from the pipe, but the blower motor itself loud humming and vibration.
