There is some reason to believe that the paraffin gives the oil a much higher viscosity than non paraffin containing oil. Cen-pe-co and Brad Penn use this to market their oil. I wouldn't use the Rotella at all personally as it is mainly a multi purpose oil that doesn't meet a lot of higher demands, if I were to use a 15W40 it would be the Mobil Delvac which has always been formulated for the higher demands of engines.
