The United Nations Country Team in Iraq, comprising 26 UN agencies, funds and programs, will continue to support Iraq through policy advice, institutional and capacity development, and technical assistance, in line with national plans and priorities and aligned with Iraqs Vision 2030. The U.N. Security Council, at Iraqs request, voted last year to wind down the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI), by the end of 2025.

The mission was set up to coordinate post-conflict humanitarian and reconstruction efforts and help restore a representative government in the country. Iraq was one of the founding members of the United Nations since 21 December 1945 as the Kingdom of Iraq. [1][2] It signed the Declaration by United Nations in 1943.

As a member of the UN, Iraq held a seat as a non-permanent member in the Security Council between 1957-1958 and 19741975.
